A new report from Health Equity North paints a stark picture: rising childhood food insecurity and obesity, especially in Northern communities.

Schools are at the frontline of this crisis, doing everything they can to support children and families running food banks, breakfast clubs, and holiday schemes on top of their core role.

But this isn’t sustainable.

The National School Pantry Network was created to help schools meet this need with dignity and impact, providing a structured way to support families while educating children about healthy choices.

We know what works. We see it in every school pantry we support: healthier children, less pressure on families, better engagement in the classroom.

But schools need more help and so do we.

We’re calling on policymakers, businesses, and communities to step up alongside schools to tackle these challenges at scale.

Schools shouldn’t have to choose between teaching and feeding children, they should be able to do both, with the right support.
