SUPPORT FOR
FAMILIES
It exists to support families through schools, helping to make everyday food a little easier, healthier and less stressful.
We know that rising costs, busy lives and unexpected challenges can make feeding a family feel overwhelming at times, and no one should have to manage that alone.
School pantries are designed to be dignified, welcoming and community-led. They offer support in a way that feels normal and respectful, giving families access to food, resources and guidance without judgement. While every school runs their pantry slightly differently, the aim is always the same: to support families, not single them out.
Through NSPN-supported schools, families may be able to access regular food supplies to help stretch household budgets, fresh produce and everyday essentials, cooking ideas and food education, and a safe space to ask questions or seek further support. Alongside this, we share practical help to support families at home.
Our healthy, affordable recipes are designed for busy households, using
simple ingredients, basic equipment and flexible ideas that can be adapted to what you already have.
Our Pantry Essentials guidance helps turn everyday items into filling, balanced meals, with tips on food storage, reducing waste and making easy ingredient swaps.
You’ll also find budgeting and food shopping support to help your money go further, including meal planning ideas, smart shopping tips and advice on getting the best value from your food budget. If you’re facing additional pressures, whether financial stress, changes at home or worries about food, trusted information and guidance are available to help you feel supported through your school and local community networks.
If your school has shared this page with you, it’s because they want you to know that help is available, and you don’t have to do this on your own.
